Milford, New Hampshire Residents Purchase Local Greeting Card Company

Milford, New Hampshire,  September 5, 2006 -    For Mary and Scot Langdon, purchasing Card Connection, LLC was a taste of freedom, allowing Mary to spend more time with her writing for children, and their two daughters, Abby, a Junior at Milford High School, and Emily, an eighth grader at the Pine Hill Waldorf School in Wilton.

“It actually all began quite by accident”, recalls Mary. “I was chatting with a neighbor who knew of a small business for sale.”  But what started as a way to spend more time on family and career, has evolved into a growing business.

Card Connection LLC was started in July 2003 as a greeting card on consignment distributorship for Northern Cards of Canada, peaking with 19 card displays in the same amount of stores.  Since the purchase in January 2006, the Langdons have added nine additional client stores and wholesale accounts, and reduced the existing stores so they meet what they view as the future of the small company.  “The end result is a happier customer who gets more of our time, a new product line, and a business that has grown sales about 25% in 8 months”,   Scot added.

The traditional greeting card companies sell primarily through large chain stores and leave behind the small and medium business owners to find an alternative.  Card Connection has met that gap by providing a consignment service whereby the company provides inventory, a display, and servicing at no cost to the shop owner, in exchange for floor space and a commission on sales. It’s a win / win arrangement.

For three years, Card Connection has primarily sold to retail accounts with the primary Northern Cards line-up.  But now with the addition of www.NHGreetingCards.com , they are able to offer existing and new specialty gift and food store clients a diverse selection of traditional cards, artistic and photographic, and hand-crafted greeting cards for any occasion, all web displayed.  Card Connection manages this by representing 14 artists and photographers with this specialty greeting card line. 

“What our traditional consignment business has done for the convenience shop owners,” Scot says, “NHGreetingCards.com will provide for the upscale gift shops, coffee bars, and home interiors boutiques.”  Card Connection can now offer the talented work of Lynda Elliott, of Manchester, a juried photographer in the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, Victoria Arico, a talented Mont Vernon artist, or L. Sierra Brookes and Chas Terry, beautiful visual artists from Wilton.  These are just three of the artists’ work presented on greeting cards and viewable on the web site, www.NHGreetingCards.com .
